The Figure in Clay: Making a Hollow Figure Using Templates
In this four-day online workshop, students will make a 25-inch head and torso using clay slabs, simple patterns, and photographic references. Daily, prerecorded demonstrations will cover the construction and articulation of the hip area and upper torso, arms, hands, head, and neck. We’ll touch on general anatomical concepts and modeling strategies to facilitate accuracy and expression as all the components come together, section by section. The workshop will also include live group meetings, individual feedback, and additional demonstrations as needed—all conducted using Zoom. All skill levels welcome.
Fee: $600 (4 days). Participants will receive a materials list ahead of time and will be able to watch the demonstrations as many times as they like until April 5, 2021.
