2021 Featured Auction Artists

Each year, three Featured Auction Artists are selected for their artistry and commitment to education. We are honored to feature their work and provide a window into their creative practice.

Penland Benefit Auction’s donating artists represent a vibrant community of makers, each one having lived among us as an instructor, a resident artist, or a core fellow. As they support us with their gifts, this platform is also intended to connect our community with the work of Penland alumni who are making important contributions to craft and craft education.

2021 Outstanding Artist Educator

Each year, the program committee of our board of trustees votes to honor an exceptional artist/educator. Selection is made based on the artist’s contribution to Penland, the stature of their work, the impact of their work on others, their involvement in extended craft dialogue, and their generosity as a teacher and mentor.

In 2021, we are please to honor painter and printmaker Clarence Morgan as our Outstanding Artist Educator. We will pay tribute to Clarence during the streaming live auction.
