Cancellation, Refunds, and Transfers
Penland makes a substantial investment when planning a workshop, and vacancies can be hard to fill even if there is a waiting list, so we must charge cancellation fees to offset the cost of these vacancies.
For summer 2024 workshops, cancellations received more than 30 days before the beginning of a workshop will receive a full refund minus the $50 non-refundable application fee and a $100 cancellation fee. Cancellations that occur less than 30 days before the start of the workshop will receive no refund.
Beginning with fall 2024 workshops, the cancellation deadline and the payment deadline for all sessions will be 60 days before the start of the workshop. If a student cancels anytime up to 60 days before the start of a workshop, they will receive a full refund minus the $50 non-refundable application processing fee and the $250 non-refundable tuition deposit. If a student cancels less than 60 days before the beginning of a workshop, there is no refund.
Workshop cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to registrar@penland.org
If it is necessary for Penland to cancel a workshop for any reason, students will be notified and offered another class or a full refund. We cannot, however, be responsible for nonrefundable airline tickets or other travel expenses. This policy also applies to scholarship recipients.
Workshop transfer requests must be made at least two weeks before the start of a workshop. A nonrefundable $35 transfer fee will be charged for each workshop transfer. Transfers cannot be made from one student to another.
