Stacey Lane, from Bakersville, NC, studio jeweler, Penland’s community collaborations manager, and mother of Evelyn, at the gallery reception for Many Paths: A Legacy of Karen Karnes. The dress she’s wearing was traded to local ceramic artist Jane Peiser for pottery in the late 1960s by a “hippie girl”  passing through in a Volkswagen microbus on her way to the coast.
