These brushes mix playfulness and tradition, utility and sculpture. Made using traditional ebonizing techniques, hand tools and brush tying, these pieces have the physical integrity of traditional craft with an updated and playful aesthetic.
Aspen Golann – Bakersville, NC
Aspen is currently the Wood Studio Coordinator at Penland School of Craft. She has had residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Center for Furniture craftsmanship, Monson Arts, and an upcoming visiting artist residency at the Torpedo Factory, and Gullkistan in Iceland.
Aspen is a 2019 alumni of the North Bennet Street School Cabinetry & Furniture program in Boston, MA. She received her B.A. in Literature & Sculpture from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH in 2010, and progressive teaching certificate from the Progressive Education Lab in Boston, MA. Her work is exhibited throughout the country.
