In the mountains of Western North Carolina, March is the month when we begin searching for signs of spring. The early daffodils make an appearance, often getting a dusting of spring snow, and hints of green blades and blue skies break through the grey of winter. 

Poet Billy Collins describes the feeling of spring anticipation in Today, “If ever there were a spring day so perfect, so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze, that it made you want to throw open all the windows in the house….”
