Supply Store Sales Assistant

Position Summary

The Supply Store Sales Assistant is responsible for sales, inventory management, and for maintaining a clean, friendly, and professional retail environment in Penland’s Supply Store. The position assists in placing and receiving orders and coordinating UPS shipping and is in charge of planning for and ordering the wearable items, logo items, and books. The Supply Store Sales Assistant reports to the Supply Store Manager. This is an hourly, full-time (30 hours) seasonal, benefits eligible position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains good customer relations
  • Assists in ordering supplies, soft goods, logo-items and books
  • Records, prices and restocks incoming supplies
  • Handles sales of merchandise and UPS shipping
  • Operates POS system and end of day batching with accuracy
  • Assists in accurately managing internal accounts and the collection of studio fees
  • Assists with preparation of the annual supply store inventory
  • Maintains cleanliness of the store and the reading room
  • Maintains neatness of the presentation of store inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED plus at least 1 year retail experience is required. Position requires a self-motivated individual who is detail-oriented. Knowledge of computer software applications in word processing, POS, spreadsheet and database software is required as is the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Must possess exemplary communication and customer service skills, an ability to multitask, and have a proven track record in sales.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to work at a computer. The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools, controls and to speak fluently and to hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision required by this job includes close vision.
