Collaborative Scholarships at Penland School of Crafts

Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass Visionary Scholarship
Funded by the Art Alliance of Contemporary Glass (AACG), the Visionary Scholarship program was established for individuals seeking to pursue a career in glass. This award provides a full scholarship for a student seeking a career in art using the medium of glass. The mission of the AACG is to further the development and appreciation of art made from glass.

 

Clay Artists of San Diego Scholarship Award
The Clay Artists of San Diego Scholarship is a special scholarship for residents of Southern California who teach high school art in the San Diego County school system. The recipient will receive full tuition, room, and board for a one or two-week summer session in clay. This scholarship is funded annually by the Clay Artists of San Diego, a non-profit 501c3 organization.

 

Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) Scholarship
This award is funded by Penland friends, Cathy and Alan Adelman, and is awarded and managed by HOLA. It allows a youth living in the Los Angeles area to attend a full two-week summer session at Penland.

 

Higher Education Partnership Scholarships
These scholarships are provided in partnership with up to 30 colleges and universities who match Penlandís contribution of the cost of providing full scholarships for a two-week summer session at Penland. The college or university partner selects students, who must be first-time students at Penland to be eligible.

 

William R. Kenan Jr. Fellowships
Funded by the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, these full scholarships are available to recent graduates of UNCSA for study in all media in summer classes at Penland. Applications and selections are made in partnership with UNCSA.

 

Miami Dade College Scholarship
Funded anonymously, this award provides full scholarships for a summer class at Penland for students from Miami Dade College. A stipend towards travel costs and materials is also included. Recipients are selected by Miami Dade College.

 

Peter and Joni Petschaur, Peggy Polson Penland Scholarship
This fund supports one full scholarship for a two-week summer session at Penland. Eligible applicants are first time Penland students who are rising sophomores and juniors at Appalachian State University. Students in any degree track with prior experience in media offered at Penland are encouraged to apply. For information, contact the ASU art department at 828-262-2220.

 

Antony Swider Art Education Award
Funded by the Penland Endowment for Art Education held at the Winston-Salem Foundation, this award provides one full scholarship for a summer session to a public school teacher in the Forsyth County/Winston-Salem school system. UNC Chapel Hill Minority Student Scholarship Award
Funded by Dr. Olive Greenwald and the UNC Chapel Hill School of Art, this provides a full scholarship to a minority student in UNC Chapel Hillís School of Art program. Selections are made by the UNC Chapel Hill Graduate Studies for Studio Art.
