Penland School of Crafts Annual Benefit Auction
Join Us for Auction Weekend!
The Penland Benefit Auction is a gala weekend in the North Carolina mountains featuring the sale of over 240 works in books, clay, drawing, glass, iron, letterpress, painting, photography, printmaking, textiles, and wood. The Penland auction is one of the most important craft collecting events in the Southeast and a perfect opportunity to support Penland’s educational programs, which have helped thousands of people live creative lives.
The 2018 Penland Benefit Auction will be Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11, 2018.
2018 Auction Opportunities
The 2017 Annual Penland Benefit Auction was another rousing success and a beautiful illustration of just how vital Penland’s community is to our many programs. Hundreds of artists gave exquisite works of art, hundreds of volunteers came to lend a hand, and hundreds of guests joined us to enjoy it all and show their support. Both Penland’s resident artists and core fellows hosted open houses to share their studios and recent work with attendees. There were engaging conversations, beautiful views, photo booth shenanigans, and lots of vigorous bidding.
By the end of the weekend, the incredible generosity of this community helped us to raise $638,390 for Penland! This money goes to support so many aspects of our campus, from maintenance and renovations on beloved buildings like the Craft House to purchasing supplies for our studios and paying the salaries of our dedicated staff. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who donated work, bought a ticket, made a bid, made a purchase, or volunteered and helped make this important annual event a success.
We hope the slideshow above is a fitting tribute to all the fun, the hard work, the beauty, and the camaraderie that went into this year’s auction. We’re already looking forward to doing it again with you on August 10-11, 2018!
