Ashley individually hand-cuts each element from sheet metal using a traditional jeweler’s saw. She then applies color using an industrial process called powder coating. This method of painting electrostatically covers metal with a dry pigment, which is then cured under heat.

Ashley Buchanan received her BFA in Jewelry and Metalwork from the University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Art. She regularly participates in many juried craft shows across the country including American Craft Council shows and The Smithsonian Craft Show. Her work has been recently been exhibited at SOFA Chicago, The Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach, FL., The University of Michigan, and The Penland Gallery. In 2015 Ashley was a finalist for the Emerging Voices Award given by the American Craft Council.
