"The ‘Core Students’, as we were known then, worked incredibly hard and helped each other to succeed and grow without judgments, it was a peer support system for me that went beyond the craft we each practiced. It helped me realize myself as an artist. The Residency, at the time, was an alternative to graduate school; it was a dynamic interaction with a group of like-minded makers which formed lifelong friendships."
