Furnace Building Workshop

with Eddie Bernard, proprieter of Wet Dog Glass

Students in this workshop will learn to build a glass day tank from the bottom up. The group will work together to build one new furnace, replacing one of the existing Penland studio furnaces. Students will learn the principles of good furnace design, and we will cover what size furnace and how much combustion space are needed for different situations. After we install the combustion, safety, and control systems on the furnace, we will tune it for optimal efficiency.
