This vibrant and welcoming community of artists gave me the confidence in the possibility of pursuing life as an artist. My experience at Penland prompted me to go to Cranbrook, continuing my pursuit of that life. The approaches to teaching that I learned were put to use throughout my 30+ year career as a public high school art teacher. My Penland encounter has continously resonated in my life and has given me the courage and perserverance to continue making art to this day.
