Session Two: June 8-20
Clare Dolan--Puppet Laboratory
From gigantic effigies to miniature toy theater, what exactly are puppets, dolls, and performing objects, and what kinds of vocabularies do they create? What happens when the puppet replaces the human body? How can paintings and sculptures dance? We will attempt to answer these questions as we cover Luddite puppet-building techniques emphasizing simple materials, organic substances, and trash. We will build, move, experiment, and create a “happening” as the culmination of the class. All levels.
