Guimard Table, by Penland trustee John Lee, will be part of Wood 4 Penland, a special sale of furniture, sculpture, and vessels donated in support of the new Penland wood studio. The sale takes place in three Asheville, NC galleries and the Penland Gallery from April 7 -30, with opening receptions in Asheville on Friday, April 7 from 5-8 PM. Complete information and catalog here. John explains that this table was named in honor of Hector Guimard, the art nouveau architect and furniture designer. This table is John's contemporary version of an art nouveau adaptation of a Queen Anne tea table (yes, there will be a short quiz at the end of class).
